eangulus
I have a problem were I have some files getting downloaded even thou there are no new version. At this stage the biggest culprits are 7-Zip 9.12 Beta and Java Runtime. I have them both downloading from filehippo and have checked the version tag and all that. All my files are setup the same yet a handful are downloading repeatedly. The majority are fine thou. Also on a much smaller note some older files are not getting deleted. This is happening mainly on Google Chrome.
josh
they should have uploaded new files (log talks abut md5 mismatch), however version for those 2 apps is no longer displayed as well...
andreone
Manually updating the job causes the file to be downloaded each time, so this is not a question of new version on the server. A bug into the md5 calculation? I can confirm the issue with 7-zip and java runtime. It's working fine with my others applications from Filehippo though. floele
Might have happened in an older version. Should not occur in the latest Ketarin version. Also post a log.

kazso
This happens because Filehippo published the wrong MD5 for that file on the Technical page (http://filehippo.com/download_directx/tech). Their MD5 is 4E41372E8775E8025BE013480B0629B3, but it should be 7C1FC2021CF57FED3C25C9B03CD0C31A. Ketarin always compares the MD5 of the downloaded file with the MD5 published by Filehippo. And in this case it will always mismatch, until Filehippo fixes it. As a workaround you can set the version variable as indicator for changes for this file. xenon2000
I too have this issue. Using Ketarin 1.7.1.434 in Windows 8.1 x64. Putty for instance. I can't get it to ever say it's up to date. It always thinks there is an update available, will redownload and still say it needs an update. I am using FileHippo ID: putty Beta: Avoid Indicator for update: I have tried the default of nothing, and "version". Both have the same results. How is this still an issue? How do I solve this. shawn
In the case of Putty it is most likely because you have Ketarin configured to avoid Beta releases, but FileHippo ONLY has beta releases available.
xenon2000
In the case of Putty it is most likely because you have Ketarin configured to avoid Beta releases, but FileHippo ONLY has beta releases available. Is that the issue for others then? Because tons of them have this same symptom for me. Such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, AVG 32bit, Classic Shell, and many more. I don't want beta and regardless of the settings I choose, it always says there is an update.
shawn
I'm afraid I can't answer that. I use FileHippo as infrequently as possible. All the apps I use on FileHippo work -- but I prefer to use original source whenever possible. I don't have the spare time to fiddle with finding these and creating my own instances to emulate the minimal information that you've provided. Debugging would be best if you provide the exact app profile (select it in the main Ketarin window, CTRL+C to copy, come here and click the 'code' button, paste (CTRL+V) into the code box. It'll paste the entire XML contents of the profile so we can accurately recreate your settings. FileHippo hasn't updated their engine to support the latest versions of Adobe Reader yet, though. The current major release versions of Adobe Reader are Adobe Reader DC 2015.007.20033 (2015.007.30033 for the "continuous" track). More on this here and here. kazso
I'm using Ketarin every day and never had this issue. If a program has only beta versions listed on Filehippo, then Ketarin simply checks and downloads the latest version available (ignoring the beta flag), so that's not the problem. If the file keeps downloading repeatedly, then you should first check the log. Open the log window (View -> Show log, or CTRL+L). Now select a program and update it. Normally you should see something like this: 2015.06.03. 14:20:02: Update started with 1 application(s)2015.06.03. 14:20:24: PuTTY: Using referer: (none)2015.06.03. 14:20:25: PuTTY: Server source file: /download/file/2d556685dfe414936e66773295b38f44d0141ed274ef84a0d0d7222051e2ea942015.06.03. 14:20:42: PuTTY: Determined target file name: d:\ketarin\net\PuTTY 0.64 Beta.exe2015.06.03. 14:20:42: PuTTY: Checking if update is required...2015.06.03. 14:20:59: PuTTY: Update not required2015.06.03. 14:20:59: Update finished If it says "Update required, MD5 does not match" all the time, then your downloaded file never matches with the file on the disk. This could mean 4 things: Filehippo published a wrong MD5 for the program (very rare), permission problem on the download folder, bad network device (ethernet card, router, switch, etc), bad disk drive. In case of mismatching MD5 checksums you could try this: 1. Download the program manually from Filehippo and save it in the same folder where Ketarin would. 2. Create the MD5 checksum for the downloaded file (with Total Commander or other program). 3. Compare your MD5 with the published MD5 on Filehippo (it's listed at the bottom of the "Technical" page).
