Like I said in this thread I want a resolve-me-once variable which will retrieve an application name and fill the appropriate field only once when I add the application using that template. That variable will only be resolved once and after the app entry was create it can be auto-deleted.

I still dream of being able to scrape {appname} from the URL on template instantiation...

Too bad. The idea actually depended on being able to resolve the URL and only than do the matching.

Well, for me, a "good" entry is the entry which is: 1) Properly named 2) Works 3) Works fast 4) Contains a {version} I can see a reason why FileHippo entries aren't worth keeping but still I think it's easier to just type the app name and click OK to add an application rather than going to FileHippo, copying a link, pasting a link and clicking Add Maybe I'm just lazy though. If I were you I would go even as far as allowing one application per unique download URL. If app names differ but download URL is the same you reject the entry. I understand that the method is not 100% reliable due to dynamic URLs but it will at least reduce the amount of duplicate entries.

Well, I think all good entries (even FileHippo ones) are worth keeping. What irks me more (and I know it is hard to fix) is that there's a great amount of incomplete and duplicate ones.

Yeah, looks like they generate a link per session. I think you if it would be possible to POST the download.html with relevant data you would be able to get the link. But I don't think that's possible from inside the Ketarin.

While sounding stupid at first I think it will be very useful for templates. You specify a file URL and every field, including the name of the application is populated. Don't like how developers call the app ? Rename it. Simple as that.

I've found an issue with a latest 022. When you have two app entries with the same name and delete one of them both get deleted. And in case you re-add an entry with that name the second one magically appears to be back leaving you in an endless "can't have less then two entries" cycle until you restart Ketarin. Another issue is with the online database. There's an entry labeled "Revo Uninstaller Portable" and when I want to "re-share" my non-portable version labeled just Revo Uninstaller Ketarin asks me to specify a different name. I just clicked OK but actually have no idea if it was shared or not. I know that it may be much to ask but it never hurt to Is it possible to make some addition to Ketarin's download manager to use multiple threads ? Because downloading some file like NVidia drivers is currently extremely slow even on a good connection. Please note that I do not mean update checking threads but downloading the file in chunks to speed up the process.

I was trying to grab app's name in a named (or numbered) group and then get the version from the download page. Can't get it to work together as one regex though.

CybTekSol did you get the app version scraping working for SoftPedia ? If yes, could you please send it to me because I'm struggling to get it working (at least without the user having to edit the regex to include the app name).

Well yeah, if you can implement a solution inside Ketarin it would be safer, compatible with all versions etc. etc. But for the lack of better idea and strong demand on it I came up with that
