lujomu
Hi! I know how to use regex to extract links and stuff, but this is too much for me. On this site http://www.crucial.c...t/firmware.aspx I need to select one entry from the combo box, specifically 'Crucial RealSSD C300 2.5-inch SSD'. But I have no idea how to do that. Can someone please provide me a pointer? Thanks lujomu
Tomorrow
Yep looks like they moved to flash based pages. Sucks because i get m4 2,5" firmware from there.
shawn
Selecting the value from the combobox is pretty easy (assumes you've created the appropriate text variable 'model' with the value of the model number you're looking for): value="([^"]+)">{model} However, since this uses .net viewstates, it's not going to do you any good as it relies heavily on cookies, javascript and session-fixation. In other words - getting the value from the combobox is not going to help you because their site is designed to be unspiderable. Disable javascript or cookies in your browser and it won't work at all. Why do companies like this try to make things more difficult for their users? Tomorrow
I suppose the only way is to get the firmware version from somewhere and add it to the download url: http://edge.crucial.com/firmware/{version}/C300_FW{version}.zip Unfortunately they do not seem to have a blog or something to grab this from. It's also not listed in their store under the specs.
lujomu
Yes, that's the problem. No blog or change log outside of that site to see if there is a new firmware and which version it has.... I was afraid there is no easy solution. But thanks for your efforts anyway! lujomu
Great, thanks! Just hope they don't discontinue this site in favour of the new fancy version!

shawn
That's kinda scary. Anyone else notice that the revision notes indicate in some cases that you must upgrade to a previous version firmware before the most current release - but neither page actually provides access to the required previous version? Tomorrow
As far as m4 is concerned i have always been able to upgrade to the latest from whatever i had. I bought the 64GB m4 where i run my OS and apps. It came with 0002 and i had no trouble upgrading to 0009 and earlier this month to 0309.
