Ketarin "hanging" upon startup

I'm having an issues lately with Ketarin "hanging" upon start up. The program comes up but the "Loading Applications" stage takes 5 minutes to finish. During this time, the application is non-responsive. Eventually it will finishing this step and become available to allow me to select Upload, Add New Application.

 

I am using 1.1.0.331, but the problem started about 3 weeks back with 1.09. I am using my own db of about 100 applications. Once I starting upload, it processes at normal speed. The hanging only appears to be with initial application loading from the local db.

 

This is on Vista 32-bit.

Hm, I'd suggest you to send me your database. If I can reproduce it, it can probably be fixed easily.

 

My guess is that it might try to access non existent network shares or something similar.

Unforunately, your database works fine for me.

I guess that you need to do some investigations on your own for now. Try different views (grouping, no grouping, ...) and use Process Monitor to check which resources Ketarin is trying to access (Registry, File System) in order to narrow down the cause of the issue. Maybe you can also try it on different computers.

I had this same issue on Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. I fixed it by running Ketarin in compatibility mode for XP SP3. Hope that helps.

I finally tracked down the issue. Microsoft Security Essentials was causing the problem. I had to had Ketarin to the excluded program list. Previously I was using Avast! with no issues.
