  1. Voted +3

Sad to see no progress on this. It's been over 2 years without so much as a reply from Flo.

It's 3rd most voted feature request.

The main goal would be to get the main window DM. It's easier to deal with smaller dialog boxes that are white.

Looking at other DM implementations it usually takes several releases to get things right.

But due to rising energy costs, OLED's as monitors being more common and general move towards DM i feel it's worth considering at least.

  2. For us night owls. Not ma major issue but it would make it easier on my eyes.

For clarification: Dark Mode refers to a design where the background is black and text/UI elements are white or grey. Inverted colors is not the same as DM. Also High Contrast theme in Windows is not a solution as that effects ALL programs. Even those that have native DM integration.

Proper implementation of DM problably requires some betas and feedback (for which i am volunteering my time gladly). Otherwise it may actually hurt the visibility of some UI elements.

  3. Oh, could we have an extra application option called "if download variable is empty/doesn't resolve then consider it an error"?

Currently I just have a batch script that basically says:

IF "{downloadurl}" EQU "" cmd /c echo error

Settings > Command > Before updating an application >

    if "{variable}"=="" exit 1
  4. Im still having this problem. It's odd that i could add exeption on my nightly, aurora and beta testprofiles and access the forum but not on my main profile even using new profile or firefox safe mode does not help. Neither does manually adding the exeption to firefox certificate store.

  5. - Handle multiple uploads of the same app (with same or similar name)

Perhaps GUID based check? The app XML already contains an unique GUID. This would allow duplicate names easily.

    - How do we prevent submission of garbage (apps that simply don't work)

This is a bit more tricky. Perhaps save the last EXIT code value into XML and check that?

    - Detemine if apps are still up-to-date or obsolete

    Dont know about this one.

  6. Yeah the online DB is sketchy at best. Always has been. And if no one is doing maintenance on it then something goes belly up sooner or later.

One of my friends has actually stopped sharing to ODB because of confilts with some ancient abandoned apps in there. Frankly im considering doing the same. Im sick of having to find creative names to my apps so i can submit them and as evidenced by this topic it still doesent work. So why should i even attempt to submit when no-one benefits from it?

I suggested ODB reset a long time ago. Unfortunately florian (dev) did not agree.

  7. Hi Tomorrow,

    i am getting some erros:

ii have used tho two files you posted above Databse and Settings xml files.

What should i do to make it work correctly?....can i somehow replace it by relative paths? instead of D:\

Hi there. Disregard everything that starts with [#M] as these are local only and not for sharing. As for the rest go to Settings > Global variables and change all the nessesary values to C: or whatever driver letter you prefer. That way you wont have to edit any of the apps or even the xml file itself. Just change the value of the global variable and you're good to go. For example currently Global variable "Apps x64" points to "D:\Resources\Apps x64". By changing the value you can have it point to somewhere else. Someone else is going to have to help you with relative paths tho because thats not really my area of expertise. I plan to eventually migrate all my apps to relative paths but not before Q3 this year.

Also. Here are updated files (as your image shows many things have broken in the meantime):

    Database: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/62357244/Ketarin%20Database.xml

    Settings: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/62357244/Ketarin%20Settings.xml

  8. Glad to see this topic is still alive. As it should be. I agree with everything that kerframil said and he offers some great ideas in his post. For now when i abandon an app i do this:

    1. Add [ABANDONED] string to app name, disable it and publish to online DB.

    2. Remove Edit>Advanced>"Share this application online with others" checkmark.

    3. Export this app with the abanoned string in xml name.

    4. Include the abandoned xml in archive so if i decide to re-use it in the future i still have the original and i can import it and publish any updates to online DB.

Its fairly redundant keeping around old templates but you never know when you might need them.

    EDIT:

Was wondering. Could two people who both have the same app down to the GUID - could they co-update an app?

Personally i dont see why not unless one of them already has an app with this name/GUID in their list.

  9. Add new custom column with the value of:

    {property:ExecuteCommand}

Now if i remember correctly this either displays only the commands at the Commands tab or on the Setup tab. I think it was the commands tab and there is no code to force display only the commands at the Setup(instructions) tab.

But atleast you get and overview of what apps have setup instructions.

Also check out this old but oh so useful tool: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/17940-universal-silent-switch-finder-01/
