I have corrected the issue with the template. It was exported with an earlier version of Ketarin and I can only assume it burped as I do not remember hand editing it.

I changed the version regex in the CNet template above... works for most of my 34 apps from there. As far as speeding it up... I don't really have the time to tackle it right now. A portion of the lag is because it is necessary to use their search engine to capture the url of the latest version as it changes each time. Other users... feel free to tweak it and post an improved version.

They finally responded to my e-mail and removed the ban... I have limited connections on their site to prevent it from happening again.

It had never been a problem before... too late now, they won't respond to my e-mail inquiries about the ban.

My static IP has stung me again Flo. I have 66 apps from SoftPedia in Ketarin and when I ran an update of them today my static IP was banned! This is a major inconvenience! If you recall, I abandoned Freewarefiles.com some time ago for the same reason. I hope this does not become the norm. Is anyone else having problems with SoftPedia? Thoughts?

It would be best to have a checkbox for each app to select if you want it to retry immediately, or delay until after the current cycle.
Ditto for me, Flo plus maybe disabling retry for an app with the checkbox as well...

Just banned some IP blocks Flo... a repeat offender that's a pain in the _ _ _! If it causes issues or if you are not in agreement with this, feel free to remove the ban.

I've been using it for months now with no adverse effects and a negligible gain in performance... of course, I archive jobs.db on a regular basis just in case.

It seems I've missed out on quite a bit of activity since my family's latest tragedy. Now that things are nearly normal for us again, I look forward to the challenge and may have some questions for you Flo, Shawn and others... I've already experimented with WGet and the preupdate-url for my Linux/BSD/Solaris distros. Looks promising indeed!!

I agree Tomorrow... I maintain other functional download site templates for those cases where the author cannot afford the bandwidth required to host their own apps... about 20+ of my 1300+ apps if my memory serves me correctly. Of all my download site templates, my Snapfiles template is my favorite as it is the fastest and most reliable.
Other than Snapfiles, virtually all of my newly added apps are from the app's homepage if possible using one of my generic templates. -
Try the above modification of the template to see if it works for you jadog.

Flo... I've had little time to test Ketarin in the last 11 days (as described in another post)... but I have noticed that:
1) The 'Edit Variables' window NO LONGER JUMPS to regex match... intentional? I will miss this if so...
2) The 'Information required' window when importing a template has a random screen placement which is annoying for me. Can this be changed to default to centered or a set x,y? ALSO, please consider making this resizable to make long placeholder inputs easier to read.
3) This one is a little more difficult to explain, but here goes... I have several apps based on a template that has a variable for the 'Contents from URL' that is appended with files/ as such {AppURL}files/ and it will load the first time but not the second. Ketarin will fail and says it needs to be closed.
They have not had a problem in the past and the syntax is correct. I use this convention for sites other than Sourceforge also...An example: {AppURL} = hxxp://sourceforge.net/projects/staxmedia/ and therefore {AppURL}files/ would be hxxp://sourceforge.net/projects/staxmedia/files/
This leads me to a request for caching of a page during a individual app's update to limit subsequent hits on a server that we discussed a long time ago when my IP was banned from FreewareFiles.com if my memory serves me correctly... Is this possible?
THANKS as always Flo... Ketarin has come a long way and is now a MUST HAVE application for everyone with a PC (not just us geeks) IMHO!!
