floele
You should be able to moderate registrations now (all moderators also).

floele
I guess you should check all registrations at http://www.stopforumspam.com/search Or block multiple registrations with the same IP and same time.
Tomorrow
--Test post for moderator approval-- Much appreciated Flo.Hopefully this cuts down the spam somewhat.
CybTekSol
...removing the links does neither stop spam registrations nor spam posts. Agreed... but it does eliminate some of the incentive for spammers that post links as advertisements.
CybTekSol
I guess you should check all registrations at http://www.stopforumspam.com/search I just removed my first new user by doing just that Flo. The IP was listed as a known spammer from Serbia... WORKED BEAUTIFULLY!
necrox
@all: Please check approved accounts after one day. I've noticed they insert advertisement links to their profile ~10-12 hours after their account registration has been approved.
necrox
In addition to http://www.stopforumspam.com/search.php for IP/e-mail/user name search use also http://geo.flagfox.net to identity (most of them) their country and region. There is also a Mozilla Firefox search engine plugin on mozdev.org called GeoTool to identify the users country via IP quick and easy.
shawn
I personally live and breath in DQSD (http://sourceforge.net/projects/dqsd/files/dqsd/4.1.0.0/), which I created a simple alias for StopForumSpam: sfs|http://www.stopforumspam.com/search?q=%s|Search StopForumSpam|Search StopForumSpam|Search Then use "sfs <paste>" to search the stopformspam db for the data. DQSD already has dozens of other scripts in it for stuff like IP checks (just paste the IP and press enter), as well as other anti-spam and search capabilities. Nifty app. As indispensible as N++ and Synergy.
Tomorrow
In this week things have really gotten out of hand. There's a massive spam onslaught. Every day im notified of new posts and when i come to see all i see is spam, spam & spam. Something needs to be done about this!
shawn
I've contacted Flo by email and asked him to tighten the reins a bit. If nothing else, we need to disable guest posting (ALL the spam in the last week or two has been via guests) and enforce a first-post-moderation system. We're to the point now where there's been more spam today than legitimate posts in the last 6 months.
necrox
we need to disable guest posting (...) and enforce a first-post-moderation system Oh yes, please! +1 I've checked the IP addresses of the last 6 days. All of them are of Chinese origin (starting with 175.44.x.x).

Tomorrow
So the spam avalance finally seems to have come to a halt. Lets hope it stays that way.
