T3chnomanc3r
New to Ketarin and VERY THANKFUL for it's creation! I'm stuck on the topic of editing Template Exports' XML. Please forgive if my technical knowledge of XML is lacking or incorrect, learning way more than I wanted to about XML standards OTF at 3am! <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> This tells me the file should be UTF-16 double-byte encoded with required BOM yet direct from Ketarin 1.0.9.309 "Export" the file reads as ANSI in Notepad++ (hex edit confirms this). Save As (no manual convert or encoding changes) with Notepad++ the resulting output file is UCS-2LE thus has a BOM and double byte encoding (when viewed with a hex editor). What leads me to to examine this is editing with XML Notepad 2007 (XMLNP) chokes on UTF-16 encoding where there is no standard mandated BOM. Simply opening & saving in Notepad++ results in proper UCS-2LE + BOM which works fine in XMLNP. By standards, UTF-16 must have BOM and be double byte encoded correct? So why do I not get that from Ketarin's export? Is this a bug with export or am I doing something wrong? Meanwhile exports of "Settings" outputs the same ANSI format but does not add the encoding parameter thus editing in XMLNP generates no errors. Thanks again for a great product! floele
I guess I can fix that. The problem is that .NET uses "utf-16" by default if you save the XML to a string before saving it to a file. When saving the file, the encoding changes, but not the XML content.
