rctneil
Hey, Right, I am going to format my system shortly so I can get the RTM version of Windows 7 finally installed. How can I export my list of applicatiosn and their individual settings and also how can I export the Ketarin global settings too? Another question. When Ketarin has downloaded all the setup files for the updated apps, How do you guys actually know which of the setups you need to actually run as you might already ahve that version of that app already installed? Also, how can you set up the default settings for when you add a new application. Such as how can I set it globally that I want all apps setups to download to a specific folder? Extra question. I have just set a custom variable called {ver} up and added it as a column so I can see the latest version number for each application but only 3 apps show the number. How can I set the others, especially how do I do it for filehippo apps? Edited December 6, 2009 by rctneil
Stalker
For version you don't use, {ver}, {v} but use {version}. This way FileHippo jobs will also display the version. And you won't look like a very lazy person not wanting to type extra letters. And follow standards for templates.

Stalker
Well, now that I read it that sounded a bit hostile. Sorry for that. Anyway to see the version for all applications you need to scrape it first. For information how to do that you might wanna read the stuff at the following links: http://cdburnerxp.se/help/kb/20 http://ketarin.canneverbe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=84 http://ketarin.canneverbe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=293 http://ketarin.canneverbe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=
rctneil
Hey, no problem. Right, I read the first of those tutorials. I know what regexes are in basic terms but have not looked into them before. For some apps I added today I just fecthed the HTML of the download page and used the built in commands to set the start and end bits of code to a speciifc variable whcih i named {ver}. (I didn;t know there was a standardised way. I will aim to get these changed. How can I alter these variable names I have defined myself in bulk throguh all my added apps as I have quite a few now! How can I export all my program settings and list of apps and associated settings to a file so it's easy to import on a different computer. Also, I have my desktop PC and a netbook. I have Ketarin stored in a folder whcih is syncronised between the two. How can I get my list of apps and all settings to work when I open Ketarin on both the desktop and netbook as currently if I open ketarin on the netbook, no apps are listed. Thanks Regards, Neil
Stalker
In order to do a bulk modifications of the settings you can export your app list to XML and modify it in any text editor.

andreone
ok, What about the other questions above like export settings and app list and stuff for use on other machines? By default, Ketarin stores its settings in your user profile. These are contained in a file named jobs.db (sqllite database). But, you can create an empty file name jobs.db into Ketarin's folder (or copy your existing database into Ketarin's folder) and then Ketarin will use it. This allow to have a portable mode.
