shawn
Hi, all. I'm one of the many people bit by the recent changes to licensing for LogMeIn. It's gone from relatively free a few years ago to costing me $7000+/year if I renew my subscription next month. I have no interest in spending that kind of money on software that, while very useful, doesn't provide *that* much value. I've discovered ScreenConnect and have been trying it out the last few days - but while it's 'owned' software instead of subscription (as LMI) - the costs for the way I work (at least a half dozen simultaneous connections = $1650) is still pretty high. Update renewal will only be 10% of that (if I read their policies correctly) but that's still much larger than the $450 I spent on LMI last year. That said - I need some form of remote software that's unobtrusive and easy to use. I've tried nearly a dozen different apps over the years so far ScreenConnect is the only one that's remotely close to how I want to operate (in many ways it's better than LMI, too). And it allows bulk remote execution of commands without having to be logged in. Very spiffy. First, does anyone here have alternative recommendations? Second, is anyone interested in cost-sharing? An unlimited connection license is $4000 ($400 for annual update support) and it would relieve my mind a lot if I wasn't limited by an explicit number of simultaneous connections. Thoughts? Advice? Guest WTcomputers
We use bomgar, but the initial cost is high because you have to purchase the box. Then there is yearly maintenace which you can pay or not. If you pay, you get all the updates and help. If you don't get the maintenance you are on your own. However, it works really well. shawn
Thanks WT. The only pricing information I can find suggests that Bomgar will cost me ~$25k up front and ~$3.5k/year for maintenance. That's really no better than LMI. floele
For what purpose do you actually need it? I guess it's not too hard setting something up with TightVNC for free...
